SONMARG
Sonmarg, located at an altitude of 3000 meters in the state of Jammu & Kashmir is a beautiful place to visit. Sonmargg is 87 KMS away from Srinagar. Sonmarg which means “meadows of gold”, stands true to its name with majestic Himalayas in the background and spectacular valleys around. Sonmarg has scenic trekking routes which takes you to scenic Himalayan lakes of Vishansar, Krishnasar and Gangabal.
This place is also an alternative route for the visitors traveling to Amarnath Caves.
Pahalgam
Floating clouds over the snow covered mountains, a gushing river and a thick forest cover of pine and fir trees is how this picturesque town of Pahalgam greets its visitor. A popular tourist destination in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Pahalgam is situated at an altitude of 2,130metres. Pahalgam is 88 kms away from Srinagar city/ Pahalgam is also associated with the annual Amarnath Yatra. Chandanwari 16 km from Pahalgam, is the starting point of the yatra that takes place every year in the month of Sawan (July to August) . There are varieties of sightseeing places in Pahalgam like Lidder River, Mamal Shiva Temple and Kolahoi Glacier
GULMARG
The hill station of Gulmarg, located in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir literally means “the meadows of flowers”.Gulmarg is 50 kms away from Srinagar city. Its lovely landscapes, snow-clad peaks, lush green forests and its prime location and proximity to Srinagar, make it one of the best hill resorts in the country. The slopes in Gulmarg varying between 8,700 and 10,500 feet make the ski runs the highest in India. Situated at a height of 2,650 m, Gulmarg golf course is one of the major attractions of the awesome hill station.
YUSMARG
Yusmarg is a hill station in the western part of Kashmir Valley in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is 47 Kms away from Srinagar. Yusmarg is a small meadow set in the heart of mountains. It is an ideal picnic spot and the Nilnag Lake can be visited from here. A two hour drive from Srinagar will take you to acres upon acres of grassy meadow ringed by forests of pine, and towering beyond them, awesome and majestic snow clad mountains.
VERINAG
Verinag is situated at a distance of approximately 80 km from Srinagar. Reached through the link road, it is located at a height of 1,876 m. It is believed that the Verinag spring in Kashmir is the chief source of the river Jhelum. There is an octagonal base at the spring, surrounded by a covered passage. The Mughal Emperor Jehangir started the construction work on both the base as well as the arcade. It was during the reign of Emperor Shah Jahan that the work got completed. There are remains of Mughal pavilion and baths in Verinag, down the stream to the east.
KOKERNAG
Kokernag is a sub-district town and a notified area committee in Breng Valley (The Golden Crown of Kashmir) of Anantnag district of the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. It is situated at a distance of about 17 Kms. from district headquarters. Kokernag is a collection of many small springs and their collective appearance resembles to the claws of a Koker (cock). Kokernag is the largest fresh water spring of Kashmir and its water has many curative and digestive properties. Place is famous for gardens, largest fresh water springs in Kashmir and for its largest rainbow trout hatchery of north India.
SINTHEN TOP
Sinthen top is a hill station, a popular tourist destination located in South Kashmir’s Breng Valley (Sub-District Kokernag) in Anantnag district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Away from the crowded jungle of the connecting cities of Srinagar and Anantnag, its unique splendor touches one so deeply that one can immediately feel the presence of peace in the air. The constant snowfall throughout the year, mostly at the peak, makes it a perfect option for local tourists as well as visitors. The trip to this place is exciting to say the least but so is sliding down the snow-capped mountain.
